On Teaching Art

A discussion on the trails, triumphs and tribulations associated with the craft of teaching art.

What a job. Whew! I hope I eventually get to chat with any of you artists or art teachers out there on the challenges of getting kids excited about art, informed about the inner workings of how artists create work, what represents important work, and how we are all influenced by the inumerable art forms (i.e. Process- Materials, Elements, Principles; Appreciation; Criticism; History etc.). And, the bigger challenge, how we fit all of that into 40 minutes each day- including set up and clean up. My purpose for creating this "Blog" is to hopefully connect with some of you out there who have wonderful ideas on how to improve this process- classroom management, lesson ideas, processes, contacts etc. I am going to treat this blog as a journal of sorts. I will post my ideas, worries, inspirations and perspirations on this blog every few days and, hopefully, after some time, maybe I'll be lucky enough to find some really wonderful artists/ educators in this technological cosmos who would be willing to exchange ideas and stories.

Day one, Attempt #2

Ok. I think I've got the hang of this process. It's time to get started!

Day one

This is my first time on Blog Spot and I am basically testing this process. I am going to take a few visits to make sure I am doing this properly and then I will get to posting commentary.
